Grid congestion, flexibility, and an energy market that keeps changing. Our clients run into this every day, and want to know what it means for them and what they can actually do about it. That’s where you come in.
At COMCAM, we’re building a brand-new consulting practice. You’ll run client assignments and lead the client process, while also helping build the department itself.
Your advice is never detached from practice: the portfolio managers, analysts and technical experts who make it happen sit right next to you.
The kind of challenges you’ll work on
Three examples from practice:
- A company has expanded, but now risks being cut off or fined because of grid congestion, putting its operations at risk. You bring the grid operator and management together, talk to people on the shop floor, and find a solution that actually works.
- A retail chain wants to expand and open new locations, but runs into the fact that grid capacity is no longer simply handed out. That calls for strategic energy advice: where does the organisation want to go in the coming years, and what matters more to it, low operating costs or contributing to society and the environment? And why? You find the question behind the question.
- A large recreation park aims to be fully off-grid by 2030. What steps are needed, and what decisions have to be made now to get there? You advise on investments and subsidies, and think along about what the owners truly care about.
How we work
We’re honest and transparent. Made a mistake, or did something go wrong? Growth comes with mistakes, and above all with getting back up. Share them, learn from them, and move on. We do the same.
We share knowledge. Our people, their knowledge and their experience are our biggest strength, and everyone at COMCAM is happy to share it.
How we differ from a traditional consulting firm?
The biggest difference from a traditional consultancy? You don’t just advise, you also work on the implementation at the client. And you don’t do that alone: the portfolio managers, analysts and technical experts sit right next to you. In every department you can keep asking until you know all the ins and outs, from the hardware in control boxes to how energy is traded on the floor.
Hear it from your future team
“What I find strong about COMCAM is that you never look at a challenge from just your own field. We have a lot of different expertise in-house and easily find each other. That means you learn fast, but more importantly, you arrive at solutions that actually hold up in practice.” – Alimo Jaffer Business Analyst
“I chose COMCAM because it operates in a dynamic sector that keeps becoming more important for the energy transition. What makes my work here so enjoyable are the engaged colleagues, and the fact that there’s always something new to learn and discover.” – Angad Singh Portfolio Manager
“At COMCAM I work every day with driven colleagues. We solve problems for clients who simply couldn’t move forward without our advice, which is very rewarding. I get the most energy from good conversations with clients, where we think along with each other as equals.”– Adriano van der Kleij Manager Consulting
What you’ll do
- Independently run client assignments, from intake to delivery
- Lead the client process: manage scope, manage expectations, and keep clients informed on what’s happening
- Spot issues and follow-up work early and raise them with clients in a constructive way
- Help shape the services we offer and how we bring them to market
- Help build the department itself
- Work on grid congestion, strategic energy advice and sustainability for large and mid-sized companies, speaking regularly with directors and owners
- Join client assignments from day one
What we ask
- Excellent command of Dutch
- HBO+ education level
- Execution power. In this role you don’t just advise, you also make sure it works at the client. You enjoy picking up new things and making them a success.
- Commercial insight. You keep an eye on what else is going on at a client and you name it. By thinking in business cases, you make visible what your advice delivers.
- Entrepreneurship. You don’t wait for a process that doesn’t exist yet. You pick up what’s needed and you get energy from working on a department that’s still being built.
- Client skills. From experience you know that advice lands best when you first listen and understand, and only then come up with solutions. You look for the story behind the problem and explain clearly what a client gains from your advice.
- Experience. You have at least 3 years of experience in a consulting role and know how a project runs. Energy sector knowledge is a plus, but not a hard requirement: at COMCAM you build that knowledge quickly thanks to your colleagues.
- A plus. You have a network of your own, or know how to build one.
What we offer
- Salary. A competitive salary that grows as you take on more commercial responsibility and help build the department further.
- Lease car. We have a number of pool cars available, which you can also drive privately if you wish. Prefer public transport? A mobility scheme is also possible.
- 32 to 40 hours a week. How you divide those hours is largely up to you, in line with what your clients and colleagues need. You get trust and are responsible for your own results.
- Room to build. Take responsibility, and you get all the room to try new things that move the department forward. A solid business plan for the Belgian energy market? Bring it on.
This isn’t the right fit if…
…you’d rather spend your time thinking about positioning and propositions, or if you’re expecting a fully built-out organisation with existing playbooks already in place. The work is hands-on and the pace is high.
How the process works
- Introductory conversation with Adriano, Manager Consulting
- In-depth conversation with Nadia, Head of Portfolio Management.
- Offer.
No assessment. It’s about the click. You won’t be asked to calculate how many electrons are currently moving through the Dutch power grid, but if you’d enjoy solving a case like that, we’re happy to go there with you.
